Well we’re down to it. Take a chill pill and make a list. Food items of course, which I am heading out right now to buy and hopefully scratch off my shopping list for good! And then the dreaded what am I forgetting gift list?
Isn’t this digital world wonderful? Here are several last minute gift-giving ideas that may partially save your sanity. The not very creative but works well for some members of your family gift card and a digital one at that. Most, if not all stores offer this. You can even have it digitally delivered to your loved one on Christmas Day. Very easy!
2nd item is to buy an item online and have it delivered to a store near you for pick up. Sony has combined with Best Buy to do exactly this. Purchase select Sony items including some of their great speakers, their newest 1000x Noise Cancelling Headphones and digital cameras through this offer and have the item delivered to a Best Buy store near you. In most cases you will be able to pick up your item before close of business, which I think is 6:00pm on Christmas Eve, at Best Buy.
And if you’re feeling a little crazy here’s my final suggestion. Every few years, because we’re not really up to do this every year, S3 and I will pick out a big store that we like, say Dick’s Sporting Goods or Kohls and show up around 4:00pm Christmas Eve. Many stores give extra discounts in the last few hours before closing on Christmas Eve. It’s hectic, frantic and traffic is terrible, but since we have almost all our shopping done, we are not under any pressure and we can, in a strange sort of way, enjoy it. Try this, but please get your mind in the proper place beforehand. (photo Danford Golf)
One last thing. Linda and I stopped into a Walgreen’s Wednesday to have some passport photos taken. The young lady helping us said it would take 15-20 minutes and we were welcome to look around the store while we waited. Neither of us are regular Walgreen’s customers so imagine our surprise at the excellent and very low prices on a bunch of products throughout the store. Linda was able to find some nice last minute gifts for our grandkids and saved some good money in the process. Hey, swing into Walgreen’s. While they’re not a mega-department store they do have a much larger selection than you might expect. And there is probably one near your neighborhood.
