Summer vacation is great, at least I always looked forward to it. But then there is the dilemma of how in the world are we parents going to keep our kids busy during all this free time? Summer athletic camps are the answer and golf camps are readily available all over the U.S.

Contact the golf venues in your area, the public courses, the private courses, the driving ranges and the golf training academies. Most, if not all, will be offering week-long summer camps. Hours will be from 8:00 or 8:30am until 12:00noon or until 5:00 or 5:30pm. Costs may be from $150.00 to $275.00 for the week, usually depending on which time option is offered, half-day or full-day.

We always booked S3 in the first week available, so if our budget allowed we could enter him in a 2nd or even 3rd camp. Also if your daughter did not click with the coaches at her 1st camp, you will have time to enter her in a 2nd camp at a different location. All this calendar work depends of course, on the tournaments that are booked over the summer break and the good ole budget.

Dad and Mom, here are 3 big reasons why summer golf camp is important:

  • Your girl is immersed in golf, everything golf, for 20-40 hours during a 1-week time period.
  • It is healthy outdoor exercise.
  • She will learn to become comfortable around people she had not previously known. This is important to help with some of the tournament jitters.

Please get those calendars out, take a look at the family budget and book your daughter today in a summer golf camp. It has the opportunity to greatly advance her golf skills and she’ll love it!

See you on #1 tee ready to show me what you learned in golf camp… Sam

Junior Golf: It’s Getting Late

In today’s Wednesday Waggle we’re just reminding you that it’s getting late for taking advantage of special shipping offers to get your gifts delivered before Christmas.img_0102

There are so many good deals on so many neat items right now that it’s had to keep up. Take a look: The excellent Troon Golf Group is offering great packages at their clubs in the Mobile/Fairhope/Gulf Shores, Alabama, area. Buy a 6-pack of rounds and get some great pricing. They also have specials on logo balls, golf gloves and more. Items from very inexpensive to several hundred dollars. If you aren’t able to take advantage of the golf, buy a few logo balls. Your son will be the only kiddo in his area with them. (Dufner image golfdigest.com)

And http://www.tgw.com has free shipping on orders of $99 and higher plus standard shipping will still arrive by Christmas. There’s a Mystery Sale today. Visit their website and see what’s up.

Another company to look at is Frogger Golf. They are known for their innovative golf accessories and these items are most interesting. Go to www.froggergolf.com and check out the award-winning Brush Pro Original, Catch Latch Bag And Belt and TRAX Towel. Cool stuff!

Please also remember your brick and mortar golf shops which includes golf clubs and local driving ranges as well as Edwin Watts, Golfsmith, Golf Galaxy and Dick’s Sporting Goods to name a few. FYI Golf Galaxy and Golfsmith are owned by Dick’s so there is some commonality within those 3. Just spur of the moment stopping at a local driving range may result in some wonderful bargains. They don’t have the budget to advertise so you’ll want to swing by. Our local ranges put their golf shoes on at ridiculously low prices several times a year, but you wouldn’t be aware of it if you didn’t go by in person.

We understand everyone is crazy busy this time of year. Take time today, sacrificial time to do some creative shopping and still get standard shipping delivery before Christmas.

See you on #1 tee with something new and different… Sam
